Job Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in our research. If you would like to join our laboratory, please send a CV, letter of interest, and name of three reference to hsabet@mgh.harvard.edu.

We currently have openings for postdoctoral research fellow. See below for more information.

Postdoc position #1: Laser microfabrication, and optics-photonics engineering

Roles and responsibilities: Successful candidate will primarily work on internal microstructing of scintillator crystals using laser-induced optical barrier technique, development of combinational methods for laser microfabrication (such as surface and sub-surface ablation), laser texturing, design and fabrication of high aspect ratio metalens, and multi beam integration with beam steering system. The candidate is expected to prepare research results through reports, peer reviewed articles, conference proceeding, and intellectual property.

Requirements: Applicants must have obtained a Ph.D. in Physics, Optical engineering, Laser physics and engineering, or related fields. S/he must be self-motivated, should have strong problem-solving and communications skills. Applicant’s skill set must include understanding of short pulsed laser interaction with matter, laser microfabrication, nonlinear optics, and optics/photonics design. Experience in direct waveguide writing, modeling of laser beam interaction with matter, use of galvo scanner, freeform optics, meta-surfaces, nano-photonic, zero-index optics, and Multiscale and Multiphysics simulation is preferred.

Postdoc position #2: Detector readout development and imaging instrumentation

Roles and responsibilities: Successful candidate will work on readout electronics development, PCB design and fabrication, detector characterization, and system integration for imaging systems such as TOF-PET, and cardiac SPECT. This includes working on high frequency readout for MCP-based detectors, characterization of new scintillators, and contribute to the ongoing external collaborations pertaining to ASIC design and development. The candidate is expected to prepare research results through reports, peer reviewed articles, conference proceeding, and intellectual property.

Requirements: Applicants must have obtained a Ph.D. in electronics, physics, biomedical engineering, or related fields. S/he must be self-motivated, should have strong problem-solving and communications skills. A good command of English is required. The candidate must have expertise in electronic circuit design and PCB fabrication, imaging instrumentation & system integration, and data acquisition design. Experience in TOF-PET instrumentation and Cherenkov detector is preferred. Experience in VLSI design is plus.

Postdoc position #3: Imaging system simulation/modeling and image reconstruction

Roles and responsibilities: Successful candidate will work on development of parametric system modeling, and image reconstruction/analysis tools for PET, SPECT, CT, and Compton camera. The primary focus is on development of a complete reconstruction package for a small animal PET scanner under development in our laboratory which includes the iterative reconstruction engine, scatter correction, randoms correction, and implementing accurate system matrix (including depth of interaction).

A good command of English is required Applicants must have obtained a Ph.D. in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields. Applicant’s skill set must include quantitative skills, computer programming in C/C++, MATLAB for image reconstruction and familiarity with asymmetrical imaging system geometry. Proficiency in GPU programming, light transport simulation, GEANT/GATE simulation, reconstruction packages such as CASToR and STIR, and implementation of artificial intelligence techniques is preferred.
