Sina Soleymani

I received my PhD in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Pennsylvania State University, United States, in 2021. During my PhD program I was performing various duties including photonic experiments around light and matter interactions in non-Hermitian photonic structures, nonlinear optics, and optomechanics. Additionally, I was performing theoretical and numerical simulations as well as micro/nano-fabrication in the cleanroom facility of the Pennsylvania State University. The topic of my PhD thesis was “Physics and Applications of Exceptional Surfaces”, which was centered around experimental and theoretical realization of the exceptional surfaces. Furthermore, I performed theoretical studies around optical forces in parity-time (PT) symmetric systems, exceptional points and metasurfaces.

I joined MGH/HMS and Sabet Lab as a research fellow in 2022, and since then been working on internal microstructing of scintillator crystals using laser-induced optical barrier technique, development of combinational methods for laser microfabrication (such as surface and sub-surface ablation), laser texturing, design and fabrication of high aspect ratio metalens, and multi beam integration with beam steering system.
